The Casper Police Department is investigating a body found in the alley between East Sixth and East Seventh streets and South Center and South Wolcott streets on Sunday morning.

The police department issued this press release:

On September 7, 2015, at approximately 0905 am, Casper Police Department Officers responded to an alley in the 600 block of South Center Street, in Casper, Wyoming, where a deceased male was located. There is no identity on the victim at this time and he is described as being in his late 20’s to early 30’s. Foul play is suspected by Casper Police Detectives at this time.

On Tuesday, Natrona County Coroner Connie Jacobson said in a press release the man was 24 years old.

Jacobson is withholding the man's identity until his family is notified, according to the press release. An autopsy will be conducted later this week to assist in determining the cause of death.

On Monday, a man who was working on a remodeling job at a local business said he and another man found the body when he walked south on the alley during a work break.

Jerry Irvine and the other man saw what looked like a pile of trash at the northeast corner of the Elks Building. They quickly realized it was a body, Irvine said.

The other man touched the body, said it felt cold to the touch, backed away, and called the police, Irvine said.

The body was laying face down, with one arm over the back of his head, he said. The other arm was beside him and had what appeared to be blood on it. There was no pool of blood that he could see, he said.

The body was facing west, with the head near the building, Irvine said. Irvine said the man looked like he could have been between 20 and 40. The worker could not determine the man's race.

He added he saw a wallet in the alley about 30 feet from the body.
