Big Weather Changes Ahead

Rain showers have started in the Big Horn Basin, fog is rolling into portions of northeast Wyoming and snow is starting to fall in the west.   Heavy snow and freezing fog is making for difficult traveling conditions in the southwest.  This precipitation is the leading edge of a cold front that will slowly be pushing through the state.     Showers will spread east and south along the front later today with a rain/snow mix to snow expected this evening and tonight.   Temperatures will continue to fall throughout the day in those areas.

Further south temperatures will be quite mild and top off in the 60s to lower 70s, with continued dry conditions through the afternoon.  However, as the cold front slowly drifts further south, portions of central and southern Wyoming will see a few widely scattered showers as well, with a rain/snow mix to all snow in the higher elevations.

Southern and central Wyoming will see a better chance of mixed showers and snow move through Wednesday through Thursday morning.  Temperatures will cool down significantly during this time frame as a trough of low pressure moves in behind the front.  A Winter Storm Watch has been posted for southeast and portions of south central Wyoming including the Laramie, Snowy and Sierra Madre Ranges and from Elk Mountain east on I-80 to the Nebraska border and areas to the north Wednesday through Thursday afternoon.
