“Mama always told me not to look into the eyes of the sun…”

– Bruce Springsteen – Blinded By The Light

You won’t feel the burn of watching the eclipse without protection, but eventually, you’ll see (or NOT SEE) the damage.

There are fakes out there. I purchased this pair and noticed that while the logos were there, but not the certification. Anyone can download logos off of the internet and print them on bogus glasses. Some Chinese manufacturers have no qualms about using lead based paint on toys, so it wouldn’t surprise me that some might use unapproved eclipse lenses.

Make sure you have eclipse glasses that are ISO 12312-2:2015 certified.

Look for these accreditations before trusting your eyes to potential forgeries.

Ignorance can cause blindness, as it did with Lou Tomososki when he looked at a partial eclipse for just a few seconds. He’s lucky he only lost only part of his sight.

Enjoy the show, safely.
