The 2012 Grammy Awards finally arrived Sunday night, and while classic rockers weren’t up for many awards on the big night, they were well represented onstage. Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney and the Beach Boys all turned in top-shelf performances.
Jeff Beck was the classic rocker up for perhaps the most prestigious award at the 2012 Grammy Awards, but modern rockers Foo Fighters took home the trophy. The Foo Fighters album ‘Wasting Light’ beat out Beck’s ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll Party Honoring Les Paul’ to win the 2012 Grammy Award for Best Rock Album.
Paul McCartney was one among the first winners at the 2012 Grammy Awards Sunday in Los Angeles, snagging the Best Historical Album honor during the pre-Grammy telecast. McCartney won as a compilation producer for the deluxe Paul McCartney Archive Collection edition of his former band Wings’ classic 1973 album, ‘Band On The Run.’ McCartney shared the honor with mastering engineers Sam Okell and Steve Rooke.

AC/DC singer Brian Johnson says that an illness suffered by one of his bandmates may have temporarily put plans for a new album by the legendary rockers on hold. He wouldn’t go into specifics about which member or what the illness is, but he did say it’s not terminal and that the afflicted member is on the path to recovery.
Ozzy Osbourne and his wife Sharon are teaming up with CBS and New York – Presbyterian Hospital on a public service initiative to increase awareness for colon cancer and promote early colonoscopy screenings to help save lives. Sharon, Ozzy and ‘The Late Show With David Letterman’ announcer Alan Kalter helped launch the 2012 CBS Cares Colonoscopy Sweepstakes by appearing in a PSA that aired last weekend during CBS’ ’60 Minutes.’
‘American Idol’ returns Wednesday (Jan. 18) and Thursday with a two-night season premiere, and in advance of that momentous TV event ‘Idol’ judge Steven Tyler is doing the promotional rounds.
