One of the most anticipated albums of 2011 is a brand-new project from Red Hot Chili Peppers. The band is working with new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, who took over after John Frusciante decided to split.

Speaking to Spin magazine about the new album, Kiedis says his writing style is “the most open-minded and refreshed that’s it’s been in a long time.

During the band’s hiatus following the tour that supported their last album, Stadium Arcadium, all the members kept busy with other things: Kiedis became a family man, drummer Chad Smith worked with Chickenfoot and bassist Flea worked with Thom Yorke‘s Atoms For Peaceand studied music at the University of Southern California.  Given this, it’s not surprising to hear Kiedis call this upcoming album “one of evolution,” adding, “On this record, a decent number of songs were actually thought out and planned in a way we had never done before.”

No release date has been set but Kiedis did reveal the working title of the album:Dr. Johnny Skinz’s Disproportionately Rambunctious Polar Express Machine-Head.  We’ll see.
