Michael Clarke Duncan, best known from his Oscar-nominated role as a death row inmate with supernatural healing powers in the film The Green Mile, passed away today in Los Angeles.

The 54 year old actor had suffered a heart attack on July 13 and never fully recovered, according to a statement from his publicist.  Duncan also had roles in films like Talladega Nights:  The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby, Armageddon, Planet Of The Apes, Sin City, and Kung Fu Panda.

According to his publicist’s statement, “celebrations of his life, both private and public, will be announced at a later date.”
