United Blood Services will host the 1st Annual Guns and Hoses challenge between Natrona County fire fighters and law enforcement.

UBS is proud to be partnering with the local Law Enforcement and Fire Departments for the first annual Natrona County Guns and Hoses Blood Drive Competition at their new location @ 2801 East Second Street (in front of Hobby Lobby) on August 22nd.

The blood drive competition kicks off on Thursday, August 22 at noon and will feature a Tug-Of-War challenge between the Fire and Police Departments.

The team that recruits the most blood donors during the four days will win a traveling trophy and local bragging rights.

Get ready to pick your team and help them give back to the community, Team Police or Fire Department, take your pick!

“Law Enforcement and the Fire Department are instrumental in helping us educate the community on the importance of blood donation during a critical time of year,” said Lesli Asay, regional donor recruitment director, United Blood Services.  “Summer is typically a slower season for blood donations, so this partnership between the Law Enforcement, Fire Department, blood donors, and countless volunteers will help us maintain a strong blood supply going in to the Labor Day holiday.”

The Guns and Hoses competition allows donors to choose which organization they want to donate blood on behalf of; the Natrona County Law Enforcement or local Fire Departments. Donors will receive a free t-shirt and can register to win an iPad 3.

To donate blood, volunteers must be at least 16 years old (16 year old donors need minor donor permits which are available at the blood drive) and be in good health.
